Quality products require quality support. Porter Group continues to commit to New Zealand’s growing crushing and screening industry by supplying the latest mobile crushers and screens and the backup to match.

With an increase in sales of crushers and screens observed from Northland to Invercargill, Porter Group wanted to ensure our Porter Mechanical field service crew was able to support this influx of new equipment. “It is important to us to not only supply the best crushing and screening equipment on the market, but to also ensure our backup service is second to none. It’s all very well to sell a machine, but it is how you support that customer and their business that counts” said Scott Turner, Porter Equipment NZ National Sales Manager.

Enter two new specialised crushing and screening service technicians, Nick Claassen and Gareth Mes. Nick and Gareth joined Porter Mechanical in recent months and between them add over 30 years of experience to the team. Nick, who is originally from South Africa, started his career in-house with Sandvik, completing his apprenticeship with them in 2007 and continuing to work with them servicing machines throughout Africa before moving to New Zealand with his family last year. Gareth shares a similar tenure, having worked for a competing NZ crusher and screen dealer for over 14 years.

Nick and Gareth join Crushing and Screening product owner Brendan Smith to form Porter Group’s Sandvik support crew. Brendan, who has been with Porter Group for 11 years, works with customers to ensure machine training and initial run-up of every new machine is completed to a high standard. “The aim of the commissioning process is to make sure the machine is performing correctly and according to Plant Design specs, to ensure the customer gets full machine productivity and tonnage rates,” said Brendan.

“We’ve recently employed two dedicated crushing technicians to increase our coverage on backup, repairs, and maintenance”. Porter Group’s specialised crushing and screening support unit join our ever-expanding national mechanical team. Porter Mechanical employs over 140 certified heavy equipment specialists throughout New Zealand, supporting our extensive product range nationwide. With added service capabilities and steady part supply via Porter Parts, Porter Group is well-positioned to offer the most comprehensive crushing and screening solution to the New Zealand market.
