Screening Explained

Are you in the market for a mobile screen, and need some guidance about which models are best suited to your operation? The below overview takes a brief look at the different screen solutions on offer from Sandvik to help guide your purchasing decision. For an in-depth discussion about your quarry, mine, or recycling operation requirements, contact our Porter Group Sandvik product specialists today.

Scalping Screens

The Sandvik Mobile Scalping Screen range comprises the QE141, QE241, QE342, and QE442 models. Scalping screens are predominantly used in the production of oversized product. By design, these models have a smaller hopper and are loaded directly via an excavator. The main wide conveyor carries the oversized product, with smaller auxiliary conveyors expelling fines and mid-sized product from the sides. Scalping screens tend to have a smaller footprint and are well suited to confined job sites. Scalping screens are often used in recycling and organic material processing applications.

Doublescreens

Sandvik Doublescreen models include QA335, QA441, and QA451. These machines feature Sandvik’s patented double screen box configuration which is unmatched in the screening market. Sandvik’s double screen design combines the benefits of steeper initial extraction via free-fall screening, and secondary stratification via the flatter deck. The first screen box operates as a fines extractor while the second acts as a grader; resulting in cleanly graded high output of material. With dual-screen boxes which are separately adjustable, the Sandvik Doublescreen range offers users excellent flexibility, 30% higher production rates, and cleaner product than standard screen models.

Doublescreen models aim to produce fine materials such as sand and gravel chip and have a larger machine footprint than scalpers. Primarily used in circuit with a crusher, Sandvik Doublescreens feature large hoppers which can be fed by a wheel loader. Often referred to in the industry as ‘incline screens’, Sandvik’s range of Doublescreens include both double deck and triple deck options.

The QA451 triple deck Doublescreen is the most advanced mobile screen available on the market, which offers high production rates and greatest grade accuracy. The QA451 features two inline 3 x 1.5 m screen boxes that provide you with ultimate flexibility and control. The first screen performs as a fines extractor, whilst the second screen performs as a grader. The two processes combined in one plant offer exceptional flexibility and massive throughput.
